Restoring Infected Teeth with Root Canal Therapy
August 7, 2013
If a cavity has gone untreated long enough to penetrate your tooth enamel and enter the inner canal of your tooth, it needs to be treated as soon as possible. If this has happened to you, then you’re suffering from a root canal infection. At Framingham Premier Dental, we can restore the health of your tooth with root canal therapy.
Since there are a lot of nerves inside the root canal of your tooth, an infection here can be quite painful. It is important to address this as soon as possible because you’re at risk for losing your tooth. Dr. Gaitsgory will enter your tooth to clear out the infected inner material of your tooth. She will then sterilize your tooth and fill it with a special rubber material that will protect against further infection as well as reinforce the tooth. In many cases, we’ll cap your tooth with a porcelain crown to complete the restoration.
There’s no need to be afraid of root canal therapy. While many people feel this is a painful procedure, in most cases the pain that brings you into our office is worse than any discomfort that you’ll experience while undergoing root canal therapy. This is a great way for us to help improve the health of your smile by treating teeth that have become infected.
